GPMT 287 - Principles of Project Management


3 Credits
Students gain an essential understanding of the discipline and approach to the management of projects in a global environment. Topics explained include project definition, resource planning, project scheduling with Gantt charts, project control, as well as planning and scheduling with limited resources. Topics are explored from both a quantitative and qualitative perspective. Students learn and utilize project software throughout the course. Various techniques used in planning, scheduling, ROI, and controlling projects will be explored and applied through the use of simulations.

Prerequisite(s): HLTH 211 , MGMT 211  or CISP 111  
Course Learning Outcomes:
1. Create audience-appropriate project documentation for project phases.
2. Analyze project outcomes, including ethical business application and stakeholder impact, to improve future project planning and execution.
3. Apply project management principles to balance project resources using simulation tools.
4. Explain the significance of the Project Management Institute.
5. Define key project management concepts, both predictive and adaptive, during the phases of project life cycles.
