MGMT 211 - Management Foundations 3 Credits This course provides a foundation in basic management principles with special application and focus on the supervisory level of management. The four universal functions of management (planning, organizing, leading, and controlling) are explored. Students learn the theories and study their impact on the history of management practices. Proper case analysis process is also examined and applied through the discussion of various supervisory/managerial case situations. Corequisite(s): ENGL 109 Course Learning Outcomes: 1. Evaluate the processes that today’s managers use to control their organizations.
2. Apply the planning function of management to an organizational problem.
3. Analyze the organizing function in a given management scenario.
4. Describe given organization situation using current and historical management theories.
5. Explain the leadership theories associated with the process of management.
6. Define the role management plays in an organization.
