NURS 784 - Curriculum Development and Program Evaluation 3 Credits This course introduces the elements of nursing curriculum development, design, and evaluation. Students will learn how to complete a needs assessment to determine internal and external factors for developing and reviewing the curriculum. Internal program evaluation and accreditation readiness are addressed. Grade Note(s): A grade of B- or better is required for successful completion of all NURS and NRPY courses. Prerequisite(s): NURS 765 and NURS 765C Recommended Corequisite(s): NURS 780 Course Learning Outcomes: 1. Develop the foundational components of a nursing curriculum.
2. Synthesize appropriate theories and concepts to the process of curriculum development.
3. Appraise the external and internal influences on curriculum and content development in nursing programs.
4. Evaluate a nursing curriculum using evidence-based models.
5. Analyze best curricular practices that meet the standards and criteria of state and national accrediting bodies.
6. Examine the faculty’s role and responsibility in curriculum development, revision, and evaluation.
