NURS 640 - Nursing Research and Evidence-Based Practice 3 Credits This course examines the research process and prepares the master’s prepared nurse to engage in scholarship to improve nursing practice. Core content includes research ethics, qualitative and quantitative research methods and designs, data analysis, and results reporting. Appraisal, synthesis, and translation of evidence to solve clinical problems will be emphasized. Grade Note(s): A grade of B- or better is required for successful completion of all NURS and NRPY courses. Prerequisite(s): NURS 600 , NURS 670 Course Learning Outcomes: 1. Synthesize evidence related to a specific nursing clinical question or problem.
2. Articulate evidence-based practice questions that address nursing problems.
3. Develop a practice-change plan using an evidence-based practice model that includes evaluation criteria.
4. Apply appropriate strategies to identify and critique relevant evidence from selected sources to guide evidence-based advanced nursing care.
5. Explain how research, evidence-based practice, and quality improvement are used to address clinical problems.
6. Identify essential components of ethical conduct in research and translational practice.
