NURS 670 - Transforming Nursing Practice Role through Leadership, Policy, and Advocacy 3 Credits This course examines the role of advanced practice nurses in health care leadership and policy. Students will gain competencies in the application of micro- and meso-level leadership tools. They will apply these skills to health policy development and advocacy to impact the health of populations at the local, state, and national levels. Grade Note(s): A grade of B- or better is required for successful completion of all NURS and NRPY courses. Prerequisite(s): NURS 600 Course Learning Outcomes: 1. Synthesize evidence for a policy proposal that promotes equitable health outcomes.
2. Evaluate policy and research findings that support advanced nursing practice within a leadership and interprofessional context.
3. Relate access, health care regulation, and delivery to economic, legal, policy, and political factors.
4. Relate core competencies for professional nursing education to advanced nursing practice issues.
5. Analyze the considerations for selecting, using, and evaluating health care information systems and patient care technology.
