HCMG 770 - Strategic Management in Health Care 3 Credits This course integrates the knowledge and skills developed in previous courses in the Health Care Management program into the context of strategic management of health care organizations. Emphasis will be placed on the application of total quality management and/or continuous quality improvement initiatives in improving efficiency and cost containment in a health care setting. Tools for TQM and CQI will be discussed and demonstrated through casework. Students will be able to apply these methods to affect change throughout their organization. Grade Note(s): A grade of C or better is required on the final assessment in order to earn a passing grade in this course. Prerequisite(s): HCMG 630 Course Learning Outcomes: 1. Evaluate an organization’s need for Total Quality Management and Continuous Quality Improvement strategies in response to value based purchasing.
2. Integrate an interdisciplinary approach to solving organizational health care issues.
3. Design and implement quality change based on business and health care best practices.
4. Analyze data and research relating to measurement and quantitative analysis using current quality models and methods.
