IAAS 240 - Cisco Cyber Operations 3 Credits This course introduces students to the security concepts, common network and applications operations and attacks, and the types of data needed to investigate security incidents. Emphasis will be placed on understanding the IT infrastructure, operations, vulnerabilities, and function of a cybersecurity operations center (SOC). Students will learn how to monitor alerts and breaches, and determine and follow established procedures for response to alerts converted to incidents. Lab work is designed to simulate real-world networking. This course prepares students for the Cisco CyberOps Associate ( 200- 201 CBROPS) certification exam. Prerequisite(s): NETW 217 Corequisite(s): IAAS 221 or IAAS 224 Recommended Prerequisite(s): NETW 151 or NETW 220 Course Learning Outcomes: 1. Evaluate network security alerts and network intrusion data to identify compromised hosts and vulnerabilities.
2. Apply incident response models to manage network security incidents.
3. Describe characteristics of Windows and Linux operating systems, which support cybersecurity analyses.
4. Identify attacks against network protocols and services using network monitoring tools.
5. Identify methods to prevent malicious access to computer networks, hosts, and data.
