NETW 253 - Cisco Network Programmability 3 Credits Students in this course will be introduced to network automation, and its applications, including the integration of DevOps tools to automate the network efficiently and automate systems through code. Through network programming and automation, students will learn how to simplify tasks involved in configuring, managing, and operating network equipment, topologies, services, and connectivity. Additional topics will include open standards, tools, and network APIs, which may include Python, JavaScript Object Notation (JSON), Network Configuration Protocol (NETCONF), Representational State Transfer Configuration Protocol (RESTCONF), and Yet Another Next Generation (YANG). Fees: Additional course fees apply. Prerequisite(s): CISP 111 or NETW 101 Course Learning Outcomes: 1. Construct automation scripts that utilize specific devices to automate a task given the appropriate Software Development Kit.
2. Construct a REST API payload to accomplish a task given the APIs documentation.
3. Troubleshoot a problem given the HTTP response code, the response payload, the request payload, and the API documentation.
4. Apply the concepts of model-driven programmability using a standards-based configuration in a network environment.
5. Identify the workflow given a script that invokes a documented API.
6. Identify application security issues related to confidentiality in the handling of sensitive data in automation scripts.
