NETW 235 - Linux Server Administration


3 Credits
This course expands on existing Linux foundations, providing students with the advanced skills and techniques to administer and maintain secure, robust Linux server environments effectively. Students will gain hands-on experience implementing essential services common in Linux deployments.
Prerequisite(s): NETW 217  
Course Learning Outcomes:
1. Configure essential Linux server services, including secure remote access, web hosting, and basic DNS services.
2. Troubleshoot common server issues with system logs, network configurations, and service status.
3. Compare different strategies for server security, backup, and performance optimization based on given scenarios.
4. Implement secure and functional Linux server environments, including user management, service deployment, and basic security measures.
5. Explain the principles of network services, including TCPIP, DNS resolution, and the role of firewalls in server security.
