ACCT 213 - Cost Accounting 3 Credits This course is designed to provide an introduction to cost accounting and cost management techniques. The concepts of cost assignment to goods and services in the context of job order, process, and activity-based costing are covered. The behavior of costs, standard costing and variations-as well as schedules, summaries, and reports used in costing systems-are also introduced to the student. Prerequisite(s): ACCT 202 Course Learning Outcomes: 1. Create appropriate management cost reports for manufacturing and service organizations.
2. Evaluate the performance of an organization through budget and variance analysis.
3. Analyze cost behavior.
4. Apply proper accounting treatment and reporting of business transactions for manufacturing and service businesses within an:
a. Job order cost system
b. Process cost system
c. Activity based costing system
5. Apply applicable overhead allocation.
