LEGL 215 - Litigation


3 Credits
This course is designed to familiarize students with the basic requirements of the Michigan Rules of Court and the litigation process. The purpose is to enable them to assist the attorney in preparation of legal papers and documents in a timely and comprehensive manner.
Prerequisite(s): LEGL 101  
Course Learning Outcomes:
1. Prepare a portfolio of litigation documents for filing that are consistent in style, format, and content required by the court rules.
2. Distinguish between the federal and state court systems and the various stages of litigation used in each.
3. Analyze ethical principals of the Model Rules of Professional Responsibility in litigation practice, including the unauthorized practice of law.
4. Apply investigation strategies and techniques to acquire both informal and formal discovery documents.
