NURS 385 - Nursing Special Topics Variable Credits 45-120 Contact Hours Registration Internship/Practicum Note: Pre-approval from the Davenport University Office of Study Abroad and the Nursing Program Director is required to take this course. This course may fulfill the requirement for designated clinical courses within the BSN curriculum. This immersive study abroad program offers students a unique cultural experience where they will explore the healthcare system, evidence-based practice, healthcare policy, and nursing education in an international setting. Students will broaden their understanding of the challenges faced by vulnerable populations around the world. Furthermore, the course will focus on key topics such as social determinants of health, health promotion, disease prevention, and improving access to healthcare. Students will engage in community-based service, visit both private and public nursing universities and healthcare institutions, attend a lecture at a partner university, and connect with distinguished leaders in healthcare and academia. Pre-approval from the Davenport University Office of Study Abroad and the Nursing Program Director is required to take this course. This course may fulfill the requirement for designated clinical courses within the BSN curriculum. Grade Note(s): A grade of B- or better is required to pass this course successfully.
