60+ Transfer Program

Program Requirements:

Eligibility for this program requires completion of an associate’s degree prior to enrollment.
Residency Requirement: A minimum of 30 credits including 50% of the major must be completed at DU.

The American Bar Association (ABA) approved Bachelor of Science degree in Legal Studies builds upon the foundation developed in the Associate of Science degree program and provides the opportunity for further study in the areas of litigation, computer applications, and legal specialties. The degree will prepare students to successfully transition to law school or to immediately perform the duties required of a paralegal through studies that focus on effective communication skills, critical thinking, litigation procedures, computer applications for law offices, ethics and various legal specialties. Although the paralegal plays a key role in providing legal services to clients, only attorneys may accept cases, give legal advice, represent clients in court, or provide other direct legal services to clients. The courses in the Bachelor of Science degree in Legal Studies is an excellent pre-law degree and provides valuable preparation for careers in law firms, corporations, government agenciies, the judiciary, non-profits and other law-related settings.

MATH 120 - College Mathematics 3 Credits
Students must have completed a college level math course equivalent to MATH 120 - College Mathematics or Intermediate Algebra as a part of this program. Course fulfillment or requirement will be determined at time of enrollment. Not included in credit totals required for this degree.

ENGL 311 - Professional Writing 3 Credits
Recommendation: It is assumed that students have at least 2 semesters of English, composition, or literature in their associate’s degree as preparation for ENGL311. Other associate’s level courses with strong writing components may have prepared the student for success. Students that feel unprepared for ENGL311 should discuss options with admissions and/or advisor.
