OCTH 797 - Level 2 Fieldwork B: Transition to Independence 6 Credits 480 Contact Hours Level 2 Fieldwork B is the second of two Level 2 practice experiences. Level 2 Fieldwork B is designed to prepare students to assume greater responsibility; perform well in novel situations; and demonstrate advanced problem solving and clinical reasoning. The goal of Level 2 Fieldwork B is to develop competent, entry-level practitioners who will function as generalist occupational therapists. Level 2 Fieldwork B requires a minimum of 12 weeks of full-time clinical experience under the supervision of a currently licensed (or otherwise regulated) occupational therapist. Grade Note(s): Any unexcused non-attendance or dismissal from an internship, practicum, clinical, or fieldwork experience will result in a grade of F. This course will be graded Pass/Fail. - Explain the therapeutic value of activity and the goals occupational therapy practice to clients or professionals in the assigned practice setting.
- Select and conduct multiple assessments to delineate problems areas of complex clients.
- Organize and communicate assessment results (including clinical observations) to clients and members of the health care team.
- Formulate knowledge-driven and occupation-based intervention plans founded on assessment results and best-practice evidence from the literature.
- Anticipate and prepare for secondary complications likely to result from the nature and magnitude of the primary deficit.
- Justify appropriate intervention methods to meet goals outlined in the treatment intervention plan.
- Prepare documentation reports meeting requirements of the service setting.
- Manage increasingly complex case load incorporating collaborative work with occupational therapy assistants, if appropriate.
- Analyze need for re-evaluation and reformulation of intervention plans.
- Formulate transfer/discharge plans for complex clients that comply with service/reimbursement guidelines and mandates.
