OCTH 795 - Level 2 Fieldwork A - Guided Practice 6 Credits 480 Contact Hours Level 2 Fieldwork A is the first of two Level-2 practice experiences. During Level 2 Fieldwork A, students apply previously acquired knowledge and skills to the more challenging Level 2 practice settings. Level 2 Fieldwork A is designed to foster professional identify, promote clinical reason, and is a collaborative process with reciprocal exchange between fieldwork educator and fieldwork student. Fieldwork students are to take initiative, be prepared on a daily basis, and be open to feedback and guidance. This fieldwork course prepares students for future clinical practice through concentrated training with emphasis on analysis of occupational performance, occupation-based intervention, and assessment of patient outcome. Level 2 Fieldwork A requires a minimum of 12 weeks of full-time clinical experience under the supervision of a currently licensed (or otherwise regulated) occupational therapist. Grade Note(s): Any unexcused non-attendance or dismissal from an internship, practicum, clinical, or fieldwork experience will result in a grade of F. This course will be graded Pass/Fail. Fees: Additional Course Fee(s) apply. Prerequisite(s): Successful completion of all previously required coursework and Program Director approval. Course Learning Outcomes: 1. Articulate the value and goals of occupational therapy to clients, caregivers, and other external audiences in the assigned practice setting.
2. Select and conduct assessments to analyze occupational performance and psychosocial factors impacting occupational performance, in preparation for development of client centered interventions.
3. Organize and communicate assessment results including clinical observations to clients and members of the health care team.
4. Formulate knowledge-driven and occupation-based intervention plans founded on assessment results and best-practice evidence from the literature.
5. Select and provide appropriate intervention strategies to meet goals outlined in the intervention plan.
6. Prepare documentation reports meeting requirements of the service setting.
7. Apply critical thinking and clinical reasoning to evaluation, intervention, re-evaluation, and discharge from services.
8. Prepare basic discharge plans.
