El curso es un estudio de nivel avanzado en sistemas de información contable y el papel que desempeña en la gestión. Los estudiantes analizarán la estructura de la información contable, modularizada por funciones comerciales y la estructura organizativa. Los estudiantes aprenderán a evaluar la adecuación del entorno de control del sistema de información contable. Los estudiantes también estarán expuestos a temas sobre análisis, diseño e implementación de sistemas.

The course is an advanced level study in accounting information systems and the role it plays in management. Students will analyze the structure of accounting information, modularized by business functions and the organization structure. Students will learn to assess the adequacy of the control environment of the accounting information system. Students will also be exposed to topics on system analysis, design, and implementation.

Course Learning Outcomes:
1. Evaluar la adecuación del software y hardware a la luz de las necesidades de información de la empresa.
2. Evaluar la adecuación de los controles internos del sistema de información contable en un entorno automatizado mediante un análisis detallado de la estructura organizacional.
3. Evaluar las necesidades de intercambio de información entre funciones y ciclos empresariales.
4. Analizar la estructura de bases de datos para los diferentes módulos del sistema de información contable que proporcionen la información necesaria para la toma de decisiones gerenciales.
5. Comparar y contrastar el uso del procesamiento por lotes y el procesamiento en línea en relación con los roles que desempeñan en el cumplimiento de las necesidades de información de una organización.

1. Evaluate the adequacy of software/hardware in light of the company’s information needs.
2. Assess the adequacy of internal controls of the accounting information system in an automated environment by detailed analysis of the organization structure.
3. Assess the needs for interchange of information between business functions and cycles.
4. Analyze the structure of databases for the different modules of the accounting information system that would provide the necessary information for management decision making.
5. Compare and contrast the use of batch and on-line processing in relationship to the roles they play in fulfilling an organization’s information needs.
