IAAS 600 - Information Security Planning 3 Credits This course provides a comprehensive overview of cybersecurity management principles and practices, specifically tailored to the challenges and responsibilities faced by Chief Information Security Officers (CISOs). Students will gain a deep understanding of the critical role of cybersecurity in today’s digital world and develop the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively lead and manage security programs within organizations. Key topics include aligning security strategy with business objectives, implementing and overseeing risk management frameworks, and continuously improving security posture and effectiveness. Prerequisite(s): Required undergraduate or 500+ level prerequisite courses Course Learning Outcomes: 1. Develop a comprehensive security strategy aligned with business goals.
2. Develop tailored communications to stakeholders at all levels about security risks and priorities.
3. Evaluate the effectiveness of existing security controls and frameworks.
4. Examine security controls, including firewalls, access controls, and encryption.
5. Explain the legal and regulatory requirements related to cybersecurity and data privacy.
