IAAS 322 - Network Defense/Countermeasure


3 Credits
This course provides students with the foundational knowledge of networking technologies and best practices for securing a network. Students will explore topics including implementing firewalls, virtual private networks (VPNs), and intrusion detection and prevention systems (IDPS), as well as performing risk analysis and managing security policies. Students will develop the skills to design, manage, and secure network infrastructures.
Prerequisite(s): IAAS 224 , NETW 101  and NETW 151  or NETW 220  
Course Learning Outcomes:
1. Evaluate the effectiveness of security policies.
2. Assess intrusion detection and prevention systems IDPS.
3. Configure a VPN environment for secure remote access.
4. Apply firewall concepts for different network scenarios.
5. Describe the principles of network defensive technologies and their role in layered security.
