NURS 496 - Nursing Capstone 2 Credits This course focuses on current healthcare trends and issues related to nursing practice and research. Students will evaluate their personal commitment to the values inherent of the nursing profession. Students will have an opportunity to synthesize their learning experiences throughout the nursing program for future practice in accordance with American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) BSN Essentials. This course incorporates a comprehensive nursing content review program as preparation for the NCLEX-RN examination.
NURS 496O will be offered for BSN Completion and Concurrent partnership students only. The O suffix designates a course offering in which the ATI exam requirement for BSN-PL students will not be included. Grade Note(s): A grade of B- or better is required to pass this course successfully. Fees: Additional course fees apply. Course Learning Outcomes: 1. Synthesize professional development through interprofessional collaboration, communication, and commitment to lifelong learning.
2. Integrate theoretical concepts from nursing and other disciplines to current health care trends or nursing practice issues within diverse settings.
3. Analyze the health care environment utilizing a systems framework to consider policy, resources, and quality and safety related to nursing practice settings.
4. Implement proposed improvements to nursing practice related to a specific health care trend or professional issue using a critical thinking and clinical reasoning framework.
5. Distinguish research gaps through review of evidence-based nursing literature.
6. Demonstrate preparedness for successful completion of NCLEX-RN exam to take the NCLEX-RN.
