CISP 446 - Data Warehousing


3 Credits
This course focuses on the design and implementation of data warehouses, including data marts and operational data stores, using modern database technologies. Students will explore key topics such as data modeling for warehouses, infrastructure and tool selection, data exploration, synthesis and reduction, organizational metadata management, and data warehouse administration. The course also addresses contemporary challenges and best practices in building and maintaining efficient data warehousing solutions.
Prerequisite(s): STAT 322  
Course Learning Outcomes:
1. Develop a data governance strategy to ensure data integrity, compliance, and support for organizational decision-making processes.
2. Develop data warehousing solutions, including data warehouses and data marts, to support decision-making processes and business intelligence needs.
3. Optimize data integration processes to ensure data quality, consistency, and performance in data warehousing environments.
4. Discuss data warehouse environments to ensure performance, security, and alignment with organizational goals.
5. Evaluate emerging technologies, methodologies, and trends in data warehousing to assess their potential impact on organizational data strategies.
