CISP 309 - Database Systems


3 Credits
This course covers the use of a relational database management system (RDBMS) in the design and development of database systems. Topics include the use of SQL, DDL, stored procedures, indexes, constraints, triggers, user management, query optimization, and administrative tasks.
Recommended Prerequisite(s): CISP 247  
Course Learning Outcomes:
1. Design normalized relational database schemas using industry best practices.
2. Develop optimized SQL queries for Data Manipulation Language DML and Data Definition Language DDL.
3. Optimize database performance using indexing, query optimization techniques, and best practices in database administration.
4. Examine the advantages and limitations of relational database processing.
5. Implement stored procedures to maintain data integrity.
