BITS 212 - Microcomputer Applications: Database 3 Credits Students learn to create and manipulate databases to solve business applications. The course begins with the basic structure and configuration of tables, queries, forms, and reports. It then advances to more complex queries, custom forms and reports, macros, and the integration of databases with the web and other programs. At the end of the semester, students combine these features into a functional database which has a user-friendly interface. By the end of the semester, students will have the prerequisite skills to take applicable certification testing. Recommended Prerequisite(s): CISP 100 Course Learning Outcomes: 1. Construct relational database structures that effectively manage business data and ensure data integrity.
2. Develop queries to solve complex business scenarios, utilizing advanced techniques such as parameter, pattern match, and crosstab queries.
3. Design intuitive forms and reports that enhance user experience and present data professionally for business applications.
4. Integrate databases with external platforms by linking to web pages and HTML documents, extending database functionality and accessibility.
5. Implement data manipulation and management processes through action queries, integrating data from various sources and applying updates as required for business needs.
6. Apply skills in data management, business analysis, and database administration aligned with industry certification requirements.
