LEGL 218 - Legal Writing 3 Credits Students apply their legal research skills to draft pleadings, discovery documents, memoranda, briefs, correspondence and other documents commonly utilized in legal settings. Prerequisite(s): LEGL 216 Course Learning Outcomes: 1. Compose a legal motion with corresponding brief consistent in style, format, and content required by the court rules.
2. Prepare common legal correspondence used in the law office, including cover, confirmation, and demand letters.
3. Analyze legal issues in given fact situations.
4. Analyze the ethical principals of the Model Rules of Professional Responsibility in preparing and signing documents, including the unauthorized practice of law.
